JiaYi,oneoftheseunattendedchildren,cherishedeverysinglereunionwithherparentswhoworkasmigrantlabors:shewouldtravelthousandsofmileswithhergrandfathertovisitthem;lyingonherfather’slegandcryingsilentlyisherwayofresistingsayinggoodbye;Tearsfloodedhereyessoviolentlythatshedidn'tsaysanywordswhenhermotherhadtoleaveearlierthanplannedtostartworkingduringthespringfestival.However,lifegoesonnomattertheyarereadyornot.Shestrugglestosurviveinthesufferingofseparationwhileatthemeantime,shemustlearntoforgetthispainfulnessandpretendtolivelikeanormalkidwhoenjoyshertimeinschoolwithpeers.She,likeamatureadult,canmakeheryoungerbrothercryandthenburstintolaughs.Theirlifeisfilledwithtearsandlaughterastheygrowuphappilyandtoughly. “Sadness”isnotsupposedtobethefirstimageoftheseunattendedchildren.Eventhoughtheyhavetowithstandthelonelinessanddesperationthatarenotnormallyexperiencedbytheirpeers,theystillhavetheirshareofhappinessandinnocence.Theycontributetomaybeaminorsectionofthiserabuttheirveryexistencestillleavesmarksonthisthrivinggenerationfilledwithvariations.
